Duke University’s football program entered the 2026 season with a sense of optimism after capturing its first Atlantic Coast Conference championship since 1989 the previous year. Quarterback Darian Mensah, who topped the ACC with 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns, along with star receiver Cooper Barkate, have both entered the transfer portal, joining offensive linemen Brian Parker II and Bruno Fina who also declared for the NFL draft. The departures leave sizable gaps on the line that had been a cornerstone of the team’s success.
Enter Braden Miller, a California transfer who spent the 2025 campaign playing 13 games with seven starts at both guard and tackle, bringing versatility to the line. He will join a backfield that still boasts star running back Nate Sheppard, who is poised to be one of the best in college football next season.
