Spelling slip in the club shop
Reading Football Club has taken down a handful of online shop items that bore misspelled versions of the club’s name, including woolly hats emblazoned with ‘Readino Footrall Club’ and ‘Readng’. The erroneous products were quickly pulled after the club became aware of the mistake.
The error was first brought to the club’s attention by the BBC, which highlighted the misspelled badges in a report. In response, Reading FC confirmed that the faulty assets were removed from its online store and thanked the broadcaster for drawing attention to the issue.
While the digital catalogue was corrected, the physical merchandise stocked in the club’s brick‑and‑mortar shop already carried the correct spelling, ensuring that fans who purchase items in person are not confronted with the same error. The incident serves as a reminder of the care required when managing brand assets, even for smaller organisations with a passionate fan base.
