Voters across Stark County delivered a clear verdict in this year’s Team of the Year poll, handing the boys’ honor to Lake Center Christian School baseball and the girls’ honor to Louisville High School softball. The tally, based on 14,565 ballots, underscored a strong community appetite for athletic excellence.
Lake Center Christian School baseball captured 82.07% of the votes, a decisive margin that reflects both the team’s on‑field dominance and the enthusiasm of its supporters. The squad capped the season by securing the Division VI state championship, delivering the school’s first ever title in that division.
Louisville’s softball squad earned 56.52% of the votes for the girls’ category and concluded the year as the Division III state runner‑up, falling just short of the pinnacle but solidifying its status as one of the county’s top programs.
Statewide Recognition
Both teams’ achievements resonate beyond the scoreboard, highlighting the depth of talent in Stark County’s high school sports. Their performances have sparked conversations about future prospects, scholarship opportunities, and the growing competitiveness of regional athletics.
