Darwin Franklin, the former head coach of Millwood High School, has been appointed as the new football coach for Edmond Santa Fe, taking over a program that reached the Class 6A‑I state title game in 2020.
A new era for Edmond Santa Fe football
Franklin’s résumé includes a 127‑32 record over twelve seasons, two Class 2A state championships in 2016 and 2017, and four additional state‑runner‑up finishes, underscoring a legacy of discipline, character development and sustained competitiveness.
He succeeds Kyle White, who stepped down after a ten‑year stint that produced a 61‑60 record and a state‑title appearance in 2020; White will now serve as the school’s athletic director.
The transition comes as Edmond Santa Fe looks to rebound from a 4‑5 season that saw the team miss the Class 2A‑I playoffs, a stark contrast to the program’s earlier successes.
Franklin’s roots run deep in the local sports community; he is the son of Varryl Franklin, a former Millwood basketball coach who earned a place in the school’s Hall of Fame.
