Rising Stars Chosen for National and International Play
USA Hockey revealed the roster for its 2026 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, a showcase that will take place from August 2 to 9 in Lake Placid, New York. The festival gathers the nation's most promising female talent, and four members of Princeton University's women's ice hockey team have earned invitations.
The selected Princeton athletes — Uma Corniea, Megan Healy, Gabby Kim, and Rosie Klein — will join other collegiate standouts in a week of competition and evaluation. Their inclusion underscores the university's growing influence in elite women's hockey.
At the conclusion of the camp, USA Hockey will finalize the U.S. Collegiate Women's Select Team that will face Canada in a three‑game series scheduled for August 12‑15 in Richmond, British Columbia. Shelly Picard, a Princeton alumna, will serve as an assistant coach for that squad.
In addition to the festival participants, two Princeton players — Mackenzie Alexander and Riley Sorokan — have been named to Hockey Canada's National Development Team, a program that prepares athletes for international competition.
The recognition does not stop there. Five incoming freshmen — Caroline Averill, Maggie Averill, Chloe Brinson, Lia Cericola, and Christina Scalese — have received invitations to the USA Hockey Girls National Under‑19 Training Camp, further highlighting the depth of talent arriving on campus.
These selections reflect a broader trend of Princeton's women's ice hockey program competing at the highest levels of collegiate and national play.
