Media Day Set for July 14
Players and coaches from every Missouri Valley Football Conference program will gather on July 14 for the league’s annual media day, offering a first glimpse of the upcoming season. The event, hosted by Midwest Sports+, will be broadcast live and later made available on-demand for fans who miss the real‑time coverage.
The livestream will run from 9 a.m. to noon Central Time, allowing viewers across the country to tune in from home. Forum Communications journalists will conduct interviews with each team’s coaching staff and a select group of players, focusing on preparation, key returning athletes and overall campaign goals.
A detailed schedule outlining when each team’s representatives will appear has been released, giving fans a chance to plan their viewing and catch specific program highlights.
Season Outlook
The 2026 football season officially begins in late August, with four MVFC squads opening against non‑conference opponents on August 27, followed by three additional matchups on August 29. Conference play kicks off on September 19 when Youngstown State travels to face South Dakota State, and the regular season will wrap up on November 21.
Beyond the schedule, the conference boasts a rich history of success, having captured 18 FCS championships — 14 of them since joining the MVFC — and earning eight national runner‑up finishes, the most recent coming from Illinois State last year. In each of the 2021, 2023 and 2025 seasons, six member schools have advanced to the FCS playoffs, underscoring the league’s consistent competitiveness.
