LeCroy’s Journey from the Palmetto State to the Rockies
Talmadge LeCroy, a catcher who concluded his collegiate journey at the University of South Carolina, has officially signed a free‑agent agreement with the Colorado Rockies, a move first reported by local baseball insiders.
LeCroy, a native of Belton, South Carolina, concluded his career ranked sixth in school history for games played with 230 appearances and fourth for bases on balls with 131 walks, underscoring his durability and plate discipline.
During his final season, he posted a .263 batting average, contributed 30 runs, logged nine doubles, hit eight home runs and drove in 31 runs, while also drawing 30 walks and being hit by six pitches, numbers that helped the Gamecocks advance to the 2023 Gainesville Super Regional.
A two‑time member of the Buster Posey Award Watch List and a 2023 All‑NCAA Columbia Regional selection, LeCroy also played a key role in the team’s deep run that included a Super Regional appearance, experiences he will now carry into the professional ranks.
The Rockies organization already boasts a network of former Gamecocks, including alumni such as TJ Shook, Jack Mahoney, Cole Messina, Braylen Wimmer and Amp Phillips, creating a familiar environment for LeCroy as he looks to make his mark.
