A Celebration of Talent
The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association recently hosted its annual Mookie Betts Mr. Baseball Awards, a ceremony that shines a spotlight on the state's most promising high school players and honors those who have caught the eye of college programs across the SEC.
Lipscomb Academy’s Jack Dugan was crowned the Division II‑AA recipient after a season that saw him bat .600, smash 10 home runs, drive in 31 runs and steal 15 bases, a performance that underscored his all‑around impact on the field.
Oak Ridge’s Mikee Teasley repeated as the Class 4A honoree, posting a .396 average with nine doubles, four homers and 27 RBIs while also dominating on the mound with a 0.79 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 47 innings.
The event also recognized other standout performers such as Mississippi State commit Will Brick, who hit .561 with 16 extra‑base hits, and Vanderbilt recruit Bo Holloway, who finished 7‑0 with a 1.04 ERA and 66 strikeouts.
Additional awardees included Braydin Jones, an Ole Miss commitment who captured the Division II‑A honor, while finalists walked away with signed Betts jerseys and baseballs autographed by the Los Angeles Dodgers star.
Beyond individual accolades, the ceremony underscored the depth of talent feeding into SEC programs, with many recipients announcing commitments to universities across the region, highlighting the continued pipeline of elite high school baseball players in Tennessee.
