A Strategic Addition to ODUs Women's Basketball
Grace Hunter has been appointed as an assistant director of sports performance for Old Dominion University's women's basketball team, a role that blends her playing pedigree with a growing expertise in strength and conditioning.
Hunter’s career path reflects a steady climb through collegiate athletics. After starring at Northern Illinois University from 2019 to 2025, where she earned three academic All‑MAC honors and served as a four‑time team captain, she completed a year‑long internship overseeing injured football players before joining GForce Athletics, where she coached middle and high school hockey athletes.
Her professional development continued at Purdue University, where she served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. In that capacity she led the performance program for All‑Girl and Co‑Ed Cheerleading squads and contributed to a wide range of other sports, including softball, diving, women’s soccer, track, volleyball, wrestling and women’s tennis.
At Old Dominion, Hunter will now focus on the physical development of the women’s basketball roster, working closely with head coach Tim Socha and senior staff to design conditioning programs that emphasize injury prevention and peak performance.
The appointment underscores the university’s commitment to integrating former student‑athletes into leadership roles, leveraging their insider perspective to elevate competitive standards.
