The Professional Women’s Hockey League is poised to welcome its twelfth franchise, a new team based in San Jose that will begin play in the 2026‑27 season. The club will wear orange, blue and white, colors that echo the state’s iconic symbols.
Home Arena and Training Grounds
Games will be held at the SAP Center, the same venue that hosts the NHL’s San Jose Sharks, while practices will take place at Sharks Ice, the Sharks’ training facility. This arrangement stems from a collaboration between the Sharks Sports & Entertainment group and the City of San Jose, ensuring the team has a premier environment from day one.
Although season memberships and the full 2026‑27 schedule have not yet been released, fans can already secure a spot by placing a $50 deposit that grants priority access once tickets go on sale.
Playoff Action Continues
While the new franchise prepares for its debut, the current playoffs are already delivering high‑stakes competition. The Montreal Victoire and Ottawa Charge are locked in a battle for the Walter Cup, underscoring the growing intensity of women’s professional hockey.
The expansion reflects a broader push to grow the league’s footprint across North America, with the California team joining existing clubs in markets such as Las Vegas, Detroit and Canadian cities like Hamilton and Toronto.
