Elise Woodward has been appointed the new radio play‑by‑play host for Washington Football, a role that will see her guiding listeners through every snap, tackle and touchdown beginning September 6.
A career spanning three decades
Over 30 years of broadcasting experience have prepared Woodward for this moment. She first made her mark as a sideline reporter for Washington football, a position she held for more than two decades, and has since lent her voice to a diverse portfolio of sports, from Husky basketball to WNBA action.
Roots in Seattle sports
A University of Washington alumna, Woodward played four seasons of basketball for the Huskies from 1993 to 1997, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament three times. She earned a degree in communications: broadcast journalism, a foundation that has supported her work across ESPN, FOX, the Big Ten Network and the Pac‑12 Network.
What’s next for the broadcasts
Woodward will open the season in the Boeing Apple Cup against Washington State at 1 p.m. at Husky Stadium. Her deep knowledge of Washington sports, combined with her passion for the Huskies, positions her to lead the broadcasts into a new era of Husky Football.
Beyond the play‑by‑play, Woodward has hosted pregame, halftime and postgame radio shows for the Seattle Storm and Seattle SuperSonics, and she continues to serve as a two‑time Emmy‑nominated host of her own sports talk program on Sports Radio KJR.
