Henry Kaczmar, a senior shortstop from Ohio State, has signed an undrafted free‑agent agreement with the Seattle Mariners, opening the next chapter of his baseball career.
A Familial Connection in the Pacific Northwest
After a season at South Carolina, he returned to Ohio State for his senior year, where he and Eckelman reunited on the collegiate diamond after previously playing together at Walsh Jesuit.
In his final year with the Buckeyes, Kaczmar set a program record with 26 doubles, batting .316 while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 47 runs, a performance that helped the team secure a conference title.
Eckelman, who also contributed to the Buckeyes’ lineup, was drafted after a collegiate stint that included a .312 career average and 138 RBIs over three seasons in Columbus.
Kaczmar’s collegiate résumé features 132 runs scored, 210 hits, 46 doubles, 26 home runs and 138 RBIs, along with a captaincy for the 2026 Ohio State squad, underscoring his leadership and consistency.
