Hawai’i Baseball Players Earn All-Big West Honors

Five Rainbow Warriors recognized for pitching and hitting excellence as team secures No. 4 seed for championship

Hawai'i Baseball Garners Big West Honors

The University of Hawai'i baseball program celebrated a standout week as five of its standouts earned All-Big West Conference honors. The recognitions highlight the team’s dominance on the mound and its potent batters in conference play.

Isaiah Magdaleno and Tsubasa Tomii were both named to the First Team, while Hekili Robello earned a Second Team nod. Tate Shimao and Ben Zeigler-Namoa received Honorable Mention accolades, underscoring the breadth of talent across the roster.

Pitching Excellence

The Rainbow Warriors’ pitching staff posted a collective earned-run average of 3.44, the best in the Big West this season. Magdaleno anchored the rotation with a 2.33 ERA, while Tomii excelled as a reliever, compiling a 1.56 ERA over 25 appearances and a 3-1 record. Robello added nine wins to his credit, serving as the weekend rotation’s workhorse.

Together, the three pitchers accounted for 47.7% of the team’s innings pitched, a testament to their reliability in high-leverage situations. Their ability to limit opponents to just 3.44 runs per game has kept Hawai'i competitive in every conference series.

Offensive Firepower

At the plate, Shimao paced the team with a .308 batting average, while Zeigler-Namoa finished the regular season at .300 with 37 RBIs. Both players delivered clutch hits, helping the Warriors bat .283 with runners in scoring position during Big West games, a statistic that often proved decisive in close contests.

The offensive surge, combined with the stellar pitching, secured the program’s No. 4 seed for the upcoming Big West Championship. The team now prepares to face the top seed in a tournament that could determine an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.

Coach Dave McKee praised the collective effort, noting that the blend of veteran arms and emerging hitters reflects the program’s depth. ‘We’ve built a culture where every player knows their role,’ he said, ‘and the results show up on the field.’
