The Guelph Storm are gearing up to host the Memorial Cup next summer, a milestone that has the city’s hockey community buzzing.
A Czech Connection Takes Shape
At the centre of the excitement is 19‑year‑old forward Adrien Bartovic, a Czech prospect who has just signed with the Storm after a trade with the Brantford Bulldogs.
Bartovic spent the bulk of the previous season with the U20 side of Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech league, and he also earned minutes on loan with Vlci Zilina in Slovakia, where he tallied 17 appearances.
He arrives in Ontario with a résumé that includes eight games for the Czech U20 national team and a 42nd‑overall selection in the 2024 CHL import draft, a slot he never signed with the Bulldogs.
The Storm will field him alongside fellow Czech Vladimir Dravecky, while another import, Slovak forward Timothy Kazda, is expected to complete the top‑nine forward group.
General manager Mike MacDonald said the moves reflect a deliberate strategy to blend youthful talent with veteran presence as the team prepares for the international showcase.
Fans can look forward to seeing how the new imports mesh with home‑grown players when the tournament begins next summer.
