A Freshman Sensation
Nolen Anderson, a four‑star recruit and finalist for the Mr. Basketball award in Minnesota, has arrived on the campus of the University of Minnesota with high expectations and a clear eagerness to contribute from day one.
At Wayzata High School he compiled 1,839 points, guided the Warriors to a state championship and a runner‑up finish at the Adidas 3SSB national tournament, cementing his reputation as one of the state’s top prospects.
Roots in a Basketball Family
His family tree reads like a basketball pedigree: his grandfather, Marlo Miller, starred for the Gophers from 1957 to 1960, while his mother excelled at the Division I level at Drake University.
Beyond the Hardwood
Off the court Anderson admits to a simple pleasure — pepperoni pizza — and a love of movies such as *Stepbrothers* and *Happy Gilmore*, while also confessing that he would have pursued baseball or a career as a professional fisherman had basketball not been his path.
The freshman says he is eager to embrace the challenges of college play, to learn from the coaching staff, and to add his name to the long list of Gophers who have made an impact, all while keeping the Timberwolves as his favorite NBA team.
