A Legendary Striker Seeks New Glory in Dallas
Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Mexico’s all‑time leading scorer, has agreed to a two‑year contract with an option for a third year at Atlético Dallas, the USL Championship expansion club set to debut next season.
The 38‑year‑old forward arrives after stints at Manchester United, LA Galaxy and a recent season with Guadalajara, where he also served as a FOX broadcast analyst during the latest World Cup.
Aiming to Inspire a New Generation
Hernández said he wants to help create a winning culture in Dallas and to inspire young players who dream of following his path from the streets of Mexico to the world stage.
Brian Corcoran, the club’s sporting director, praised the striker’s professionalism and highlighted his commitment to building a competitive squad.
The club’s first coach, former LaLiga and Ligue 1 midfielder Peter Luccin, was appointed in February and will work alongside Hernández to shape the team’s tactical identity.
With a career that includes three World Cup appearances and 52 goals in 109 internationals, Hernández brings a wealth of experience to a league that is rapidly expanding its footprint across North America.
