Eau Claire North High School revealed this week that C.J. Koehler has been named the new head coach of the baseball team, succeeding Jordan Fish, who recently stepped into the role of athletic director after Mike Pernsteiner’s retirement.
A Coach with a Dual Career
Koehler spends his weekdays teaching special education at North High, a role he has held for several years. Outside the classroom, he has built a reputation as a dedicated baseball mentor, accumulating experience across multiple programs.
Before taking the top job, Koehler served as an assistant coach under Fish, helping to shape the team’s strategy and player development. His coaching résumé also includes a head‑coach stint at Port Washington High School, an assistant position with the University of Wisconsin‑Eau Claire baseball program, and a directorship at Valley Sports Academy.
Building on Recent Success
Koehler expressed enthusiasm about continuing the program’s upward trajectory. He emphasized the importance of developing athletes both on the field and in the community, drawing on his own experience to guide young players toward growth and achievement.
The upcoming 2027 season will mark Koehler’s first year as head coach. He plans to implement his vision gradually, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement that aligns with the school’s broader athletic goals.
