A Body Found in San Diego Waters
On July 22, lifeguards responded to a call near La Jolla Shores Beach, where they discovered a woman floating in the Pacific Ocean. After pulling her to shore, emergency crews attempted resuscitation, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have since identified the deceased as Bryn Waite, a 26‑year‑old former Central Washington University soccer player. Waite, originally from Anchorage, Alabama, had recently relocated to San Diego as she prepared for her upcoming wedding.
Waite played as a defender for the Division II women’s soccer team at Central Washington University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, contributing to the program’s defensive line before leaving the sport to focus on her personal plans.
The coroner’s office has not yet released a definitive cause or manner of death, leaving investigators to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Officials have asked anyone with relevant information to come forward.
