A New Chapter for the Wolf Pack
The Nevada women's basketball team is set to depart for Vancouver, British Columbia, where they will compete in the BBall Nationals exhibition tournament from August 1 through August 4. The itinerary includes four matches against international opponents, offering the Wolf Pack a rare chance to test its mettle on foreign soil.
This tour is made possible by a recent adjustment to NCAA regulations that now permits programs to schedule annual overseas excursions, a privilege previously granted only once every four years. Nevada's previous overseas outing occurred in 2023, also in Canada, but the upcoming trip marks a significant step forward under the new policy.
Guiding the squad is first‑year head coach Kelly Sopak, who has assembled a roster that blends nine returning veterans with seven newcomers. The returning players include seniors Izzy Sullivan, Amelia Raidaveta, Imbie Jones, Gabby Ramos, Olivia Poulivaati, Hanna Jolinder, Britain Backus, Kendra Hicks, and Elle Motherway, while the fresh additions feature transfers Sierra Chambers, Alexis Swillis, Aili Tanke, and Mahaila Harrison, plus freshmen Taua Puloka, Dyllyn Howell, and Delaney Arredondo.
Sopak expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming challenges, noting that the exposure to diverse playing styles will reinforce the team's cohesion, commitment, and competitiveness. "This experience will strengthen our connection and elevate our performance as we prepare for the season opener in November," she said.
