From Classroom to Console: A Teacher’s Turn to Fiction
Peter Alderman, a retired teacher from Natick Massachusetts, spent 37 years educating students at Bennett‑Hemenway Elementary School and Wilson Middle School before retiring to Franklin Tennessee where he lives near his three sons and grandchildren.
His newest novel Slider is a baseball murder mystery that draws on a lifetime of memories spent at Fenway Park and other iconic New England venues such as Cape Cod and Boston.
The Spark Behind "Slider"
The title emerged from a conversation with a coach at one of his grandson’s baseball games and is also influenced by the career of Holliston native Mark Sweeney whose path through professional baseball inspired many of the story’s characters.
Set against familiar backdrops including Yankee Stadium North Adams and the Cape, the plot follows a retired educator who becomes entangled in a web of retribution after a long‑forgotten scandal resurfaces.
Alderman blends nostalgic detail with tight suspense to create a story that captures the spirit of a region where baseball is more than a pastime and where personal history can become the backbone of a thrilling narrative.
