Rich Bisaccia, a coach with more than four decades of experience across the National Football League and college ranks, has announced his transition to Clemson University, where he will serve as the Tigers’ new special teams coordinator.
A Veteran’s Return to College Football
The move comes after a brief stint with the Green Bay Packers, where Bisaccia stepped down on February 17. He was previously the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, guiding the club to the playoffs before a controversial decision left him without the full‑time position, leading him to accept an offer from Clemson’s head coach Dabo Swinney.
Swinney, who has been eager to bolster his staff, convinced Bisaccia to return to the college game, citing the coach’s proven track record, including a Super Bowl championship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a reputation for developing elite special‑teams units.
Bisaccia inked a one‑year deal reportedly worth $1 million, positioning him among the highest‑paid special teams coordinators in the country. He says the fresh environment has re‑energized him and that his primary mission is to elevate Clemson’s special teams to a championship‑caliber unit.
Beyond the X’s and O’s, Bisaccia expressed a personal ambition to finish his coaching journey at Clemson and ultimately capture a national title, a goal that aligns with the program’s recent successes.
