A New Chapter for Montclair’s Star
Ceci Cowart, a Montclair High School standout, finished her four‑year varsity career with 73 goals and 82 assists, guiding the team to a state sectional title and a Group 4 championship. Her performances earned her All‑New Jersey second‑team honors as a junior and a place on the All‑Group 4 first team as a senior.
Choosing a college was a meticulous process. Cowart weighed offers from powerhouse programs such as Duke, Northwestern and Stanford, but ultimately decided that Wake Forest’s combination of academic rigor, athletic resources and a clear developmental pathway best matched her ambitions.
Before stepping onto the Demon Deacons’ campus, she has already trained with the college squad and shone at the National Club Championship, where her contributions earned her a spot on the all‑star team. The midfielder’s versatility and vision have drawn early praise from coaches and teammates alike.
Cowart’s most memorable high‑school moment came in a 4‑2 victory over Ridge during the North Group 4 semifinals, a game she describes as the pinnacle of her high school experience. That win helped her team reach the state sectional final and marked her 200th career point.
Looking ahead, Cowart will anchor the midfield for Wake Forest, bringing a blend of scoring instinct, playmaking ability and leadership. Her coaches expect her to translate high‑school success into immediate impact at the collegiate level.
