A multifaceted background
Evan Oliver has been appointed to the UC Riverside men's basketball coaching staff for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, taking on the role of assistant coach. His addition is positioned to reinforce the program’s focus on holistic player growth, blending tactical insight with a commitment to development beyond the hardwood.
Oliver’s playing career began at California State University, Chico, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, and he is now pursuing a master’s degree in education at California State University, San Bernardino. This academic trajectory reflects a dedication to both scholarly and athletic advancement.
Since September 2025, he has competed professionally for the Derby Trailblazers in England, gaining exposure to a different style of play and training methodologies that broaden his tactical repertoire.
From 2021 to 2025, Oliver worked as a personal trainer, honing his abilities in communication, collaboration, problem‑solving and physical conditioning. Those experiences have equipped him with a skill set that aligns closely with the program’s emphasis on growth both on and off the court.
Coaches and teammates alike anticipate that Oliver’s blend of on‑court preparation, performance analysis, and teamwork will contribute significantly to the team’s evolution in the coming season.
