The Kansas City Royals selected the right‑handed pitcher in the eighth round with the 239th overall pick of the 2026 MLB Draft, ending a journey that began when he committed to Florida Gulf Coast University as an eighth‑grader.
Possehl’s high school career spanned 2020 to 2023, during which he excelled at first base and also contributed on the mound, posting a 3.21 earned run average and 65 strikeouts as a redshirt sophomore for the Eagles.
