The Orlando Pirates have entered their maiden season in the Indoor Football League with a bang, posting an average of more than 50 points per game in their first few contests. The league’s 8‑vs‑8 format, which allows two players to be in motion before the snap, has given the Pirates a dynamic playground to showcase their speed and versatility.
Head coach Rod Windsor, who previously served as offensive coordinator, was elevated to the top spot and has already guided the offense to a prolific output. Starting quarterback Paxton DeLaurent, thrust into the lineup just before the season opener, has thrown for 21 touchdowns in six games, underscoring the team’s aerial firepower.
Among the most vocal supporters is Orlando native Nyquan Murray, a former Florida State standout who has spent time with the Seahawks and other arena outfits. Murray, now a central target on the Pirates’ offense, is leveraging his local roots to rally fans, even distributing free tickets as the club looks to build a home‑field advantage.
The franchise’s regular‑season slate stretches over 20 weeks, concluding in July, giving the Pirates ample time to fine‑tune their scheme and maintain momentum.
