A Talent‑Loaded Incoming Class
Hillsdale College announced this week that it has secured a quartet of incoming freshmen who will join the Chargers baseball program for the 2027 season. The signings are part of a broader effort to extend the program’s G‑MAC Tournament streak and to position the team as a contender for the league title.
Jack Foley, a middle‑infield prospect from Arizona, arrives with a national ranking of 341st overall and the 14th‑best third‑baseman in the state. He helped his high school squad finish as runner‑up in the 2024 Boras Classic and earned Perfect Game All‑American honors in 2025.
Bennett Hartford brings a rare two‑sport pedigree from Mishawaka, Indiana. In addition to his role on the baseball diamond, he was a key contributor to the school’s hockey team, where he collected Most Valuable Player honors and Academic All‑State recognition, while also guiding the team to back‑to‑back sectional titles.
Jack Heffner, a catcher from Pennsylvania, capped his prep career with three consecutive PAISAA state championships. He posted a .412 batting average with a 1.016 OPS and 30 stolen bases, graduating with academic honors from Malvern Prep.
Brody Weiler, a left‑handed pitcher from Ohio, led his high school to successive OHSAA Division II district finals. His performances earned him honorable‑mention All‑Ohio, first‑team All‑League and All‑District accolades, and he was named valedictorian of his graduating class.
The Chargers’ coaching staff believes the blend of athletic promise and academic distinction will help the program maintain its recent momentum. With the new class, the team hopes to push its G‑MAC tournament streak to three consecutive years and make a serious run at the league championship.
