A Step Back in Time
On August 1, the Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Park in Tennessee will host a unique sporting event that blends history with recreation.
The Resolute of Jackson Vintage Baseball Club, a group dedicated to preserving 19th‑century baseball traditions, will play its inaugural home game on the very ground where Union and Confederate forces once clashed.
The match is scheduled to begin at noon on the southeast corner of the battlefield, a spot chosen to honor the original layout of the historic site.
Admission is free, inviting families, history enthusiasts and baseball fans alike to experience the crack of a wooden bat amid the rustling of trees that have witnessed centuries of American story.
Vintage Baseball Meets Modern Community
The Resolute club, known for its period‑accurate uniforms and hand‑stitched leather gloves, will field a nine‑player team that follows the rules of the 1860s, including the use of a dead‑ball and underhand pitching.
Spectators can expect a slower pace, strategic bunts and a celebration of the sport’s early roots, all while learning about the battlefield’s legacy through guided tours offered before the game.
