Tryout Schedule and Requirements
Polk County Middle School is gearing up for the 2026 boys soccer season, announcing a series of tryouts that will take place over three evenings in early August.
Tryouts are set for August 5 from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., August 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and August 7 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., all at Utz Field, providing ample time for coaches to evaluate prospective players.
Prospective athletes must submit a current concussion form and a physical examination form before stepping onto the field, and they can verify the completeness of their paperwork with athletic director John Ruth.
First practice is slated for August 10, running from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., and attendance at all scheduled practice sessions is expected once the roster is finalized.
Coach Lennox Charles emphasizes that prior participation does not guarantee a spot on the team; each player must earn his place through the tryout process.
Optional Skill Sessions
In addition to the formal tryouts, the school is offering optional skill and pickup sessions throughout June and July, open not only to boys but also to rising sixth, seventh, and eighth‑grade girls.
These sessions, held from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at PCMS on designated dates, give participants a chance to work with a soccer ball and sharpen their abilities in a relaxed environment.
For the most up‑to‑date information, families are encouraged to visit the PCMS webpage, and any questions can be directed to Coach Charles or the school’s athletic department.
