A Rising Star in Academia and Athletics
Alden Wright, a senior at Sherwood Christian Academy, stands sixth in his class with a 4.0 GPA and a 98 average, a testament to his disciplined approach to both study and sport.
His athletic résumé reads like a varsity catalog: he has competed in soccer, football, basketball, cross‑country, track and even mock trial, while also serving as a youth soccer coach and referee.
Wright traces much of his drive to the discipline he cultivated on the soccer pitch, a sport he has played since age five, and he says that mentoring younger players gives him a sense of purpose beyond personal achievement.
A Legacy of Discipline
The values he has honed on the field — teamwork, perseverance, and a relentless work ethic — are the same ones he brings to his academic projects and community service.
As graduation approaches, he looks ahead to Mercer University, where he plans to pursue a double major in business and mechanical engineering, a path he believes will let him blend analytical thinking with hands‑on problem solving.
Beyond personal goals, Wright sees his upcoming stint with the Sherwood Christian Academy soccer team — currently battling Heritage for a berth in the GIAA state championship — as an opportunity to give back to a program that shaped him.
Friends and mentors alike describe Wright as a natural leader, someone who can rally peers in the lab, on the track, and in the locker room, embodying the spirit of a true scholar‑athlete.
