Academic Excellence Recognized
The American Conference recently announced its All-Academic Team for the 2025-26 academic year, honoring 46 FIU student-athletes who compete on the university’s men's soccer and swimming & diving programs. Their selection reflects a blend of athletic commitment and scholarly achievement.
Both programs posted a collective grade point average of 3.51 during the spring semester, a benchmark that placed the soccer squad second only to the top-ranked FIU men's sport in academic performance. The swimming & diving team matched that GPA while earning additional recognition as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for the sixteenth straight year.
A Tradition of Scholarship
The swimming & diving program’s sustained academic success is rooted in a rigorous set of eligibility standards established by the conference. To qualify, athletes must have participated in an American-sponsored sport, maintained a minimum 3.00 GPA over the prior academic year, and completed at least two consecutive semesters or three quarters amounting to 18 semester credits or 27 quarter credits, excluding remedial courses.
Beyond the numbers, the recognition underscores FIU’s broader mission to develop well-rounded leaders. By celebrating scholars who excel both in the pool and on the field, the university highlights the synergy between competitive athletics and rigorous academic pursuits.
