A New Chapter for Sullivan Soccer
SUNY Sullivan is set to field its first intercollegiate men's and women's soccer teams this fall, marking a significant expansion of the college's athletic offerings. The initiative is designed to give student‑athletes a chance to compete at the collegiate level while pursuing a SUNY education that emphasizes both sports performance and academic achievement.
Scott Goodman, a veteran coach with nearly three decades of experience across youth, collegiate and professional soccer, will serve as the head coach of the women's program. Goodman currently holds the roles of Executive Director and Head Coach at the Hudson Valley Athletic Club and directs the Olympic Development Program North for the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association.
Lenny Miret will lead the men's squad. His background includes extensive work in player development, technical training, officiating and community outreach. Miret has also contributed to local soccer education by running camps and clinics for middle and high school athletes, focusing on skill, tactics, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Both programs are positioned to create a pipeline for talented players who wish to continue their soccer careers while earning a college degree. Recruitment is already underway, and interested prospects can contact the athletics department for more information. In addition, SUNY Sullivan is recruiting an assistant coach for the men's team, reflecting the growing infrastructure of its athletics department.
