A Healthy Roster with One Notable Exception
Purdue’s football program is gearing up for the 2026 season with a roster that coaches describe as nearly fully healthy.
The only notable limitation is freshman defensive end Max Carmicle, a 6‑foot‑8, 255‑pound Chicago native who underwent a medical procedure in January and has been working through summer workouts.
Carmicle has participated in most of the team’s conditioning drills but remains restricted from full 11‑on‑11 practice sessions as he works toward a complete return.
Coach Barry Odom has repeatedly emphasized that the team’s overall conditioning is strong, noting that Carmicle is expected to be cleared for unrestricted activity by the second week of fall camp.
His return will add depth to a defensive line that is welcoming six new edge rushers, a group that could reshape the pass rush outlook for the Boilermakers.
Overall, the coaching staff views the current health picture as a solid foundation as the squad moves into the upcoming campaign.
