St. Cloud State announced this week that Spencer Meier will join the program as an assistant coach, bringing a blend of on‑ice experience and entrepreneurial drive.
Meier, a former captain of the Huskies, spent five seasons at St. Cloud State, compiling 62 points in 171 games and helping the team reach four NCAA Tournaments, three of those under his leadership as captain.
After a brief professional stint with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, where he recorded six points in 32 appearances, Meier returned to Minnesota to coach at Sartell High School for two seasons before launching his own hockey camp.
The camp, now operating as 320 Hockey, has grown into a full‑time business that offers training for youth and junior players across central Minnesota, a venture that caught the attention of the university’s athletic department.
A Strategic Addition for the Huskies
Nick Oliver, the head coach of the Huskies, praised Meier’s hockey IQ and his ability to develop talent, noting that the new staff member will help sustain the program’s recent upward trajectory.
Meier’s recent accolades include the 2022‑23 NCHC Sportsmanship Award and five‑time NCHC All‑Academic honors, underscoring his commitment both on and off the ice.
