Ragin' Cajuns Launch Backpack Donation Drive

Defensive end Tito Chikere of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team has taken the lead on a community outreach project that is already making a tangible difference for local students.

The effort, organized in partnership with the university's player engagement office, resulted in the distribution of 50 fully stocked backpacks to Ossun Elementary School and another 50 to Paul Breaux Middle School, amounting to nearly $5,000 worth of supplies.

Suzanne Dupuy, the Ragin' Cajuns director of player engagement, oversaw the coordination, assigning each position group specific items to purchase and ensuring that the logistics ran smoothly. Coaches and staff members also contributed personal donations, amplifying the impact of the drive.

In a statement, Chikere expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give back, crediting his teammates, coaches, family and the broader university community for their support. He emphasized that the initiative was driven by a desire to honor his faith and to strengthen the bond between the team and the Lafayette region.

Beyond the material gifts, the project underscores the Ragin' Cajuns' commitment to youth development and community service, setting a precedent for future outreach efforts.
