Danièle Sauvageau, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, has been appointed general manager of Canada’s National Women’s Program, a role that will run through the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.
A Dual Commitment
She will continue to lead the Montréal Victoire in the Professional Women’s Hockey League during the 2026‑27 season before transitioning to a full‑time position with Hockey Canada.
Sauvageau’s appointment follows a distinguished career that includes guiding the Canadian women’s team to Olympic gold in 2002 and earning induction into the Hall of Fame’s Builder Category in 2025.
Her leadership will extend to the National Women’s Under‑18 Team and the National Women’s Development Team, while she works alongside a coaching staff that will be announced in the coming weeks.
The selection process was overseen by a committee that included former national team alumni such as Jayna Hefford, Cassie Campbell‑Pascall and Brad Treliving, as well as Hockey Canada executives.
Hockey Canada reaffirmed its commitment to expanding participation opportunities across the country, aiming to grow the talent pool that can represent Canada on the world stage.
