A new era for Kentucky football
Pete Nochta has been appointed general manager of the Kentucky football program, stepping into a role that will see him oversee the Wildcats’ personnel operation, including player evaluation, recruiting strategy and roster management.
His appointment follows a decade‑long stint at the University of Louisville, where he rose from graduate assistant to director of recruiting and helped shape a recruiting pipeline that produced standout talents such as Tutu Atwell, Mekhi Becton, Chris Bell, Cole Hikutini and Quincy Riley.
Before his move to Kentucky, Nochta honed his craft at Purdue, Western Kentucky and the University of Louisville, serving in roles that ranged from offensive quality control to overseeing high‑school relations, and he contributed to player development programs that placed several athletes on NFL rosters.
A resilient journey
Off the field, Nochta’s personal story is marked by resilience; he battled Stage 4 Non‑Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2015 and, after a courageous fight, remains in remission, a fact he shares with his wife Alyssa and their son CJ.
The son of former University of Kentucky letterwinner John Nochta, Pete brings a deep connection to the state’s football culture, and his family’s presence at the university adds a personal dimension to his professional ambitions.
In his new capacity, Nochta will blend his recruiting acumen with a strategic vision for the Wildcats, aiming to sustain the program’s upward trajectory while leveraging relationships with high‑school coaches, alumni networks and the broader Kentucky sports community.
