A Fresh Start in Greenville
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have secured forward Ryan O’Reilly for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, confirming a contract that keeps the Texas native in the ECHL’s flagship franchise and preserves his ties to the Los Angeles Kings and Ontario Reign organizations.
O’Reilly’s rookie professional stint was marked by 24 points accrued over 72 games, a tally that placed him tied for fifth in team goal scoring and fourth among first‑year Swamp Rabbits in overall point production.
His development traces back to a five‑year collegiate journey that began at Arizona State before he transferred to Providence College, where he helped guide the team to the 2025 NCAA Tournament and finished his university career with 64 points in 153 appearances.
Prior to college, O’Reilly honed his skills across four USHL seasons with the Madison Capitols, Fargo Force and Green Bay Gamblers, compiling 98 points in 152 games and catching the attention of the NHL.
The 2018 fourth‑round draft selection by the Detroit Red Wings preceded his professional debut with the Orlando Solar Bears at the close of the 2024‑25 season, a move that bridged his amateur pedigree to the pro ranks.
Now back with Greenville, O’Reilly brings a blend of NHL‑draft pedigree, collegiate leadership and USHL grit to a roster eager to build on recent momentum, signaling a strategic push by the franchise to blend youthful talent with seasoned experience.
