A Young Player Joins the Raiders
Shane Mueller, a 14-year-old from Fairborn, Ohio, has officially become a member of Wright State University’s men’s basketball team through the Team Impact program, which pairs college athletes with children facing serious illnesses.
Despite battling Bardet-Biedl Syndrome and a fatty liver disease, Mueller will attend practices and home games, sharing his story of resilience and optimism with teammates and coaches.
His father, Eric Mueller, is a 2012 graduate of Wright State, adding a personal connection to the university community.
Coach Clint Sargent plans to integrate Mueller fully into the roster, ensuring he feels like an official part of the team throughout the upcoming season.
The partnership highlights the broader reach of Team Impact, which operates nationwide, allowing young patients to experience college sports while inspiring athletes with lessons in perseverance.
