Alcorn State Women’s Soccer Announces 2026 Home Schedule at Key City Park

Coach Ken Kabiru eyes championship momentum with challenging non‑conference slate

Alcorn State’s women’s soccer program will again call Key City Park in Vicksburg its home base for the 2026 campaign, marking the second straight season the team has used the venue as its primary gathering point.

The schedule features seven home fixtures, beginning with a preseason exhibition against Southwest Mississippi Community College on August 8, followed by the regular‑season opener versus McNeese on August 13. Additional matchups include contests with Northwestern State, Jacksonville State, Grambling, Arkansas‑Pine Bluff, Southern University and Alabama A&M, each slated for the park’s familiar confines.

Coach Ken Kabiru says the compacted slate is designed to sharpen the squad before they enter Southwestern Athletic Conference play, giving the team a chance to build chemistry and confidence early in the year.

The conference tournament itself will be staged in Prairie View, Texas, from November 11 through 15, a location that has become a familiar destination for the Lady Braves.

Looking back, Alcorn State finished the previous season with a 5‑8‑4 record and reached the SWAC semifinals, a milestone that coach Kabiru believes sets a solid foundation for a championship run.

A demanding non‑conference slate

The non‑conference portion of the schedule pits the Lady Braves against two programs that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year — Mississippi State and North Carolina — providing a stern test before conference play begins.

Kabiru emphasizes that those early battles will be crucial in shaping the team’s identity and preparing it for the rigors of SWAC competition, with the ultimate goal of contending for the conference title.
