A Record-Breaking Academic Year
The University of Memphis announced that an unprecedented 291 of its student-athletes have been selected to the American Conference’s All-Academic Teams, underscoring a campuswide commitment to scholarly excellence. Eligibility required participation in an American-sponsored sport and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, a standard the department has consistently exceeded.
Football and women's soccer distinguished themselves by capturing the Team Academic Excellence Award, which honors the highest combined GPA for the 2025-26 academic year among those programs. The recognition reflects the teams' balanced performance on the field and in the classroom.
Individual honors were bestowed on Finley Lavin, named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's soccer, and Gabriela Zych, who earned the women's at-large Scholar-Athlete award in the rifle program. Their achievements highlight the diverse talent across Memphis athletics.
Academic Excellence Across Programs
The athletic department also celebrated a 25-semester streak of maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher, posting a record-setting 3.559 GPA in the fall of 2025 — the highest in school history. Ten different programs posted perfect scores in the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate, with cross country, tennis, women's soccer and volleyball leading the multi-year rankings. The department concluded the period with an APR of 989, reflecting sustained academic resilience.
