A Fresh Start at Rosengarten
Graduate student defensive end McCoy Casey praised the improved conditions at Rosengarten, while sophomore wide receiver Jobe Bryant appreciated the additional space provided by the two fields. Players and coaches alike expressed enthusiasm about the decision to relocate practices to the new complex.
Head coach Tom Matukewicz voiced excitement about launching another college football season, highlighting the arrival of new offensive coordinator Brendan Boylan, whose extensive knowledge of the game has already begun shaping the Redhawks' scheme.
Roster Realities and Expectations
Only eight starters return for the Redhawks, with three of them on the offensive line, and preseason All‑American McCoy Casey is expected to play substantial minutes this fall. The roster also welcomes new inside linebackers and defensive backs, adding depth to the defense.
The team’s schedule opens with three straight road games: a matchup against Indiana State on August 29, followed by contests at Iowa State and Southern Illinois. Coach Matukewicz expressed appreciation for beginning the season against an FCS opponent, noting the value of the early challenge.
