A Fresh Start on the Field
The Bay Tornadoes are already in the thick of fall drills, marking the first week of preseason workouts as the squad assembles a 80‑player roster, with roughly 60 athletes slated for the varsity lineup. The energy on the practice field reflects a blend of youthful enthusiasm and the weight of last year’s expectations.
Head coach Jeremy Brown, now in his fifth season, is guiding the team through a deliberate reset. He stresses the importance of wiping the slate clean, allowing new leaders to emerge while honoring the foundation built during a 9‑2 campaign that culminated in a district title.
Brown’s philosophy centers on rebuilding a fresh legacy rather than replicating past successes. By focusing on fundamentals and competition within the district, the coaching staff aims to shape a versatile unit capable of meeting the challenges posed by traditional foes such as South Walton, Pensacola, Pine Forest and West Florida.
The upcoming schedule adds immediate pressure. The Tornadoes will test themselves in a kickoff classic against Choctaw on August 14, followed by a road opener at Dothan on August 21. Both games serve as early gauges for a team that lost several key contributors from the previous year but remains confident in its depth.
Beyond the wins and losses, the program’s momentum is buoyed by community support and a clear vision from leadership. As the players take the field, the narrative of renewal under Coach Brown becomes the defining story of the season.
