The team’s roster remains small, but coaches stress that depth is not measured by numbers alone. Defensive Coordinator Peyton Workman says the program’s core values revolve around hard work, discipline, and personal development.
Character Over Numbers
Senior center and defensive tackle Brinley Davis, one of the few returning veterans, believes the squad’s work ethic will be the catalyst that carries them through a schedule packed with Dogwood District opponents and state playoff powerhouses such as Riverheads and Altavista.
Workman echoes this sentiment, noting that the players’ commitment to each other and to the community will be evident on the field, even when the scoreboard does not immediately reflect their effort.
A Schedule Built for Growth
The 2026 slate features a higher concentration of district rivals and several marquee matchups against traditional contenders. The coaching staff has designed the schedule to test the Ospreys against elite competition, hoping the experience will sharpen their resolve.
The season opener is set for Friday, August 28, when the Ospreys host Riverheads at 7 p.m., a game that will serve as the first measuring stick for a team that embraces the challenge.
