Jake Linhart has become a cornerstone of the University of Wisconsin men's hockey program, anchoring the blue line as a senior defenseman and bringing a blend of skill, leadership, and resilience to the team.
A season of milestones
During his final year, Linhart appeared in all 37 games, contributing 12 assists that placed him second among UW defenders. His impact extended beyond statistics as he delivered the decisive assist in five separate contests, helping the Badgers secure key victories, including a 4-2 win over Mercyhurst on November 26 where he also logged a goal and six blocked shots.
The previous season saw him lead all Wisconsin defensemen with 23 points, highlighted by an overtime game-winner against Michigan State on February 4. His performances earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten second team and the Suter Family unsung hero award, underscoring his value to the squad.
Earlier in his career, Linhart posted 17 points as a sophomore, recorded his first career game-winning goal against Alaska on January 30, and notched a two-goal game versus Penn State, showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion.
Before arriving in Madison, the defenseman spent two seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, where he tallied two goals and 20 points in 58 appearances during the 2013-14 campaign, laying the groundwork for his collegiate success.
Following graduation, Linhart signed an entry-level contract with the AHL's Rochester Americans, marking the next step in his professional development and signaling a promising transition from college hockey to the minor leagues.
