The latest SEC coaches’ preseason poll places the Razorbacks in the second slot, while Vanderbilt earned the top pick.
That ranking comes on the heels of a breakthrough season in which Arkansas captured the SEC regular‑season title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Colby Hale and his staff have kept the momentum alive by retaining a core group that includes five of the program’s most prolific goal‑scorers from last year.
Among them are Vailana Tu’ua, Kennedy Ball, Zoe Susi, Bella Field and Kyndal Ewertz, who combined for a majority of the team’s offensive output.
Defensively, goalkeeper Keegan Smith returns along with several stalwarts from the back line, giving the side continuity between the posts.
Four of the five All‑SEC honorees from the championship campaign are also back, with the only exception being Makenzie Malham.
The team’s chemistry was underscored by a head‑to‑head victory over Vanderbilt last season, a result that added confidence heading into the new campaign.
Preseason Outlook
With the roster largely intact and the coaching staff confident, analysts expect the Razorbacks to again contend for the SEC crown.
Vanderbilt, despite finishing just one point behind Arkansas in the standings, saw its title hopes dashed in the College Cup quarterfinals, falling 2‑1 to TCU in extra time.
Looking ahead, the Razorbacks will host Kansas City in an exhibition match next Thursday before traveling to Memphis for a second friendly, setting the stage for a season opener against Baylor on August 12 at Razorback Field.
