Iowa State University announced this week that it has formally extended the Iowa Corn Cy‑Hawk Series with the University of Iowa through the 2031 season, cementing one of college football’s most storied rivalries for another decade.
Extended Rivalry Through 2031
The agreement not only adds several new contests but also reshapes the Cyclones’ home‑field schedule, guaranteeing seven home games in the 2027 campaign and setting the stage for a series of high‑profile road trips.
Among the adjustments, a previously scheduled encounter with Bowling Green has been moved to Ames on September 18, 2027, and will be played again on September 19, giving the Cyclones two consecutive home appearances against the Falcons.
The Cyclones also revised their opening series with Tulane, moving the 2028 season opener to August 26 in Ames and the 2029 opener to August 25 in New Orleans, thereby spreading early‑season exposure across the Midwest and the Gulf Coast.
Home‑Game Distribution Through 2031
Under the new framework, the Cyclones will host games in Ames, Iowa City, and on the road in New Orleans and Bowling Green, with the Cy‑Hawk series scheduled to rotate between the two Iowa campuses through the end of the decade.
