Oregon’s athletic department is navigating a pivotal transition as both its baseball and softball programs see key coaching departures and new appointments ahead of the 2027 season.
Jack Marder, who had served as the Ducks’ hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, announced his move to the University of Texas, where he will assume the same dual responsibilities. His departure creates a vacancy that the university has filled by promoting Ryan Fineman, a coach with a proven track record at Troy University.
Strategic Shifts in Softball
In the softball arena, Sam Marder is set to join the University of Oklahoma as Director of Player Development, marking another step in his coaching trajectory. Oregon responded by elevating Sydney Romero to Associate Head Coach, recognizing her contributions as a player and mentor.
Adding to the momentum, Shannon Saile, formerly a pitching standout at the University of Central Florida, has signed on as Oregon’s new pitching coach. Her arrival is expected to bolster the staff’s depth and bring a fresh perspective to the mound.
Both programs anticipate that these adjustments will translate into stronger lineups and improved performance metrics in the upcoming 2027 campaign. The changes also reflect a broader strategy to leverage experienced talent from peer institutions such as Troy University and the University of Central Florida.
