At the recent Big Ten Media Days, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti stepped onto the podium to outline the program’s direction after a season that delivered a College Football Playoff National Championship and a Big Ten title.
He reflected on the historic achievements, highlighting the team’s ability to defeat six top‑10 opponents, including the No. 1 ranked squad, and to secure five fourth‑quarter victories, four of them on the road.
Building a Sustainable Culture
Cignetti took the opportunity to thank university leaders, specifically naming Tony Petitti, Pam Whitten and Scott Dolson for their support, while also acknowledging the surge of fans that filled the Rose Bowl, the Peach Bowl and the national championship game.
The coach praised quarterback Josh Hoover, a redshirt senior with a strong skill set, and junior wide receiver Nick Mash, whose productivity and potential he described as key components of the offense.
He also discussed the recent influx of transfers, emphasizing the team’s focus on integrating newcomers into an established culture built around development and accountability.
Cignetti reiterated that consistency and process will remain the foundation of the Hoosiers’ approach, a philosophy that has already translated into tangible results on the field.
Looking ahead, the regular season opener is scheduled for Sept. 5 against the University of North Texas at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, a venue that is being considered for expansion to meet growing demand.
