NASCAR driver Carson Ware is set to take the wheel of the No. 47 Chevrolet for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Iowa Speedway on August 8, 2026, bringing his personal journey of recovery to a high‑profile sporting event.
The race serves as the centerpiece of a campaign titled “Before it Becomes More: Strengthening Iowans Against Opioids,” a joint effort between Ware and the nonprofit YSS to spotlight opioid prevention and early intervention throughout the state.
Ware, who has spoken openly about his own overdose and subsequent treatment, will visit Ember Recovery, a YSS‑run facility, to meet with young Iowans and share the lessons he learned on the road to sobriety.
Beyond the track, the partnership leverages social media, community events and an interactive exhibit that invites local groups to host the “Before it Becomes More” display, providing tools to recognize risk and start honest conversations before dependence develops.
