The ECU Pirates baseball program is gearing up for a highly anticipated fall season, a campaign that promises to blend tradition with fresh ambition.
A Revamped Roster Aims for Omaha
Head coach Cliff Godwin, who has steered the Pirates to a program‑record 469 wins against 238 losses and two ties, enters his eleventh year with a track record that includes ten NCAA regional appearances in eleven seasons. Under his guidance the team has captured eight straight conference titles and consistently positioned itself among the nation’s elite.
This offseason the roster has been reshaped through a mix of retained veterans, impact transfers and a recruiting class that stayed intact. Notably, standout players Ethan Norby and outfielder Jack Herring have moved on, creating both a void and an opportunity for new talent to step forward.
The upcoming fall practice session, scheduled to begin in mid‑August, will be marked by intense competition and a series of storylines that could define the team’s trajectory. With the ultimate goal of reaching the College World Series in Omaha, the Pirates are focused on building chemistry and fine‑tuning strategies that could finally break through to the national stage.
